Join Mi’kmaw artisan Barbara Bernard for a guided introduction to Mi’kmaq beadwork.

Barbara will introduce participants to the materials, tools and techniques used in her beadwork while sharing her creative process and knowledge developed through more than 30 years of artistic practice.

Through demonstrations, instruction and hands-on guidance, participants will explore the patience, precision and craftsmanship required to create a beaded design. Each participant will create a beaded lanyard to take home.

The experience is designed for beginners and is thoughtfully paced to allow time for instruction and guided project work. Participants should plan to attend the full three-hour session. All required tools and materials will be provided.

About Barbara Bernard

Barbara Bernard is a multi-talented Mi’kmaw artisan from Scotchfort whose work includes beadwork, leather crafting, drum making and doll making.

With more than 30 years of experience, Barbara is known for her detailed beadwork and sewing. She is also passionate about sharing Mi’kmaq culture and the Seven Sacred Teachings with her community.
