Join Faith Myers of Experience Lennox Island for a guided drum-making experience rooted in Mi’kmaq knowledge, culture and community.

Faith will share teachings about the importance of the drum, the connection it carries and the role it holds within Mi’kmaq culture. Participants will learn about the care, patience and process involved in bringing the materials together to create a drum.

Through cultural sharing, demonstrations and guided hands-on instruction, each participant will make a drum to take home.

This experience is adapted from Experience Lennox Island’s Beat of the Drum offering. It is designed for beginners, and all required tools and materials will be provided.

What You Will Experience

• Learn about the cultural meaning and importance of the Mi’kmaq drum
• Hear teachings connected to the drum and its role in community
• Explore the materials used to make a drum
• Learn about the care and patience involved in drum making
• Observe demonstrations and receive guided instruction
