Join Inuk artisan Jolene Rolle for a guided introduction to Inuit tufting.

Jolene will introduce participants to the materials, techniques and craftsmanship involved in creating tufted art. Through demonstrations, instruction and hands-on guidance, participants will learn how tufted elements are prepared, shaped and incorporated into a finished design.

Each participant will create a pair of tufted earrings to take home while learning about the artistic traditions and knowledge that inform Jolene’s work.

The experience is designed for beginners and is paced to allow time for instruction, guided project work and individual support. Participants should plan to attend the full session. All required tools and materials will be provided.

About Jolene Rolle

Jolene Rolle is an Inuk artisan from Nain, Newfoundland and Labrador. Her work includes kamiks, sealskin mittens, moccasins, slippers, beadwork and traditional grass sewing.

Through her business, Anaana’s Basket, Jolene combines traditional materials with contemporary designs. Her work honours sewing traditions passed down by her mentors and ancestors while providing opportunities to share Inuit culture through her craft.

Participants should plan to attend the full three-hour experience to receive the instruction and complete their earrings. Space is limited, and advance booking is required.
