Indigenous PEI Store — 111B Grafton Street
Patricia Bourque is a self-taught Mi’kmaw photographer and 60s Scoop survivor whose camera has been a powerful part of her healing journey. Born into the Abegweit Band and raised in Summerside, she found solace in photography at a young age. Through years of exploring rural PEI, her camera became a way to capture moments of joy, reconnect with her Indigenous community, and find her voice after decades of feeling silenced.
Known for her ability to capture movement, emotion, and authentic moments, Patricia has worked with organizations including the Province of PEI, the Senate of Canada, the City of Charlottetown, and the Mi’kmaq Confederacy of PEI. Her work has been exhibited across PEI and featured in national publications such as CBC, Canadian Geographic, and Maclean’s. Today, she focuses on portraiture and wildlife photography while continuing to share her work through galleries, markets, and local retailers across PEI.
Connect with artisans as they share their creative process, culture, and stories. Each session offers an opportunity to witness traditional skills and engage with the artisan behind the work.
