Stabbing Wool
From her home in the Mi’kmaq community of Lennox Island, Darryl Leamont creates enchanting felted art that blurs the line between whimsy and storytelling. Under the name Stabbing Wool, she sculpts wool into charming and imaginative forms—ranging from animals and mushrooms to gnomes and other playful creations—each with its own unique personality and charm.
What began as heartfelt gifts soon became a powerful creative outlet and a way for Darryl to reconnect with her inner child. Her craft has become a deeply personal practice rooted in joy, healing, and reflection. Inspired by the life lessons and love shared by her grandfather Hubert Sark and her aunt, artist and writer Julie Pellissier-Lush, Darryl’s process is shaped by a strong sense of family and the stories that have helped guide her.
Through Stabbing Wool, Darryl invites others into a world of softness, creativity, and connection—where each piece is more than just art; it’s an expression of care, imagination, and resilience. She also takes custom orders, including heartfelt pet memorial pieces that honour and celebrate the bond between people and their beloved animals.
