Mallory is originally from the First Nations Mi’gmaq community of Listuguj, Quebec. She has been living off reserve since 2021 and now resides on Prince Edward Island.

She does creative beadwork that is not always strictly focused on Indigenous cultures, but she loves to include it every chance she gets. Some items include incorporating the four sacred medicines into earrings, as well as artwork in card format. She also includes beadwork on hats with Indigenous designs.

Mallory creates unique medallions, though not often, as she is not one to mass produce or overproduce medallions in bead form. They are mostly specifically made for certain people as gifts. She has created one in the RCMP logo as a gift.

She has been beading since she was 12 years old and continues to learn new techniques and skills. She approaches her work with a “learn as I go” mindset and creates as she feels creative in any given moment. She often has her aunt’s voice in her head, who encouraged her at a young age to keep striving for beautiful work and to understand and accept that what she perceives as a “mistake” is a unique touch to her work and pieces.

Mallory encourages others to take on these teachings — that not everything is perfect, everyone is unique, and perfection is not as important as the outcome of a beautiful finished product.
