Treaty Day Mawio’mi
Treaty Day commemorates the Peace and Friendship Treaties of 1725-1779, which recognize the ongoing relationship between the Mi’kmaq and the Crown. In honour of this history, hundreds of Indigenous singers, drummers, vendors, and artisans gathered with Islanders to mark the occasion.
On October 1, 2024, the Epekwitk Assembly of Councils hosted the second annual Treaty Day Mawio’mi at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown. The event brought communities together in a powerful celebration of Mi’kmaq culture and history.
This year’s annual Treaty Day Mawio’mi will take place on October 1st, 2025 from 1-5 PM at the Eastlink Centre, Charlottetown, Epekwitk/PEI.
