Barbara Jadis is a Mi’kmaq from the Abegweit First Nation. Her spiritual name is Wenna aa sit Na’gu’sit E’pit, Rising Sun Women. She was born in Tyne Valley, PEI and raised on the Lennox Island, the youngest daughter of Frank and Mary Jane Jadis. A retired teacher, she believes that education and knowing your own culture, is one of the most important tools in today’s world. She attends traditional ceremonies. She loves powwow dancing, hiking, camping, and travelling. She beads, sews and make regalia, and harvest sweetgrass. Barb has four beautiful, talented children and eleven grandchildren.
