INDIGENOUS PEI PRESENTS:

ARTISAN AFTERNOONS

JOIN US EVERY WEDNESDAY FROM JULY TO OCTOBER

Every Wednesday from 1PM to 3PM, join us in-store for Artisan Afternoons, a weekly celebration of Indigenous creativity and culture. Talented Indigenous artisans will be on-site demonstrating their traditional art forms and sharing the stories behind their work. Visitors can observe, ask questions, and gain a deeper appreciation for the skill and heritage involved. It’s a meaningful opportunity to connect with the artists and experience Indigenous art in an interactive, respectful setting.

What you might expect during Artisan Afternoons

  • Watch a Mi’kmaw basket take shape from natural materials
  • See intricate quillwork or beadwork in progress
  • Learn about the symbolism in traditional designs
  • Speak directly with artisans about their creative process and cultural inspiration
  • Purchase pieces directly from the artist, knowing your support helps sustain Indigenous culture and small business

Why we do Artisan Afternoons

Artisan’s Afternoons aren’t just demonstrations — they’re opportunities to make meaningful connections. You’ll meet the creators behind the work, hear their stories, and gain insight into the living culture of the Epekwitnewaq Mi’kmaq and other Indigenous peoples who call PEI home.

As part of Indigenous PEI’s mission to strengthen Indigenous tourism, these events provide direct opportunities for artisans to share their craft, grow their businesses, and pass knowledge on to future generations.

Plan your visit
