Brookie’s Decorative Candles
Brooklyn Beaton, from Scotchfort, PEI, has grown into a talented young Mi’kmaq artisan with a deep connection to her culture and creativity. Her journey began at a young age, inspired by her mother, Deana Beaton, who first started decorating candles. As Brooklyn grew older, she was introduced to the craft and quickly developed a passion of her own.
What started as decorating candles has evolved into something much more meaningful. Today, Brooklyn creates her own candles from start to finish melting wax, designing, and incorporating natural elements such as sweetgrass and cedar, which hold cultural significance. Her work reflects both her creativity and her connection to her roots.
Over the past few years, Brooklyn has continued to expand her skills and offerings. Most recently, she has introduced sweetgrass aroma sprays, blending tradition with modern wellness products. Her dedication, growth, and willingness to learn have helped her turn a creative hobby into a small business she is proud of.
Brooklyn continues to share her work at local mawiomi’s, craft fairs and the Christmas Indigenous market, where she connects with her community and celebrates her culture through her creations. She remains grateful for the guidance and support of her mother, grandmother and family, who helped shape the path she is on today.
