National Indigenous Peoples Day Event
National Indigenous Peoples Day is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. The Canadian Constitution recognizes these three groups as Indigenous peoples.
This year, Lennox Island is hosting an event on June 20th, 2025, for National Indigenous Peoples Day. The full list of events are as followed:
- 11:30am – Opening prayer and smudge
- 11:45am – Chief’s welcoming
- 12:00pm – Free BBQ & children activities
- 1:00pm – Lone cry singers & dancers
- 1:30pm – LIFN Chief & council swearing in ceremony.
- 2:00pm – 3:00pm – Swamp river
Everyone is welcome, and there will be door prizes throughout the event! Don’t forget to bring your own chairs, as they will not be provided at the event.
