Sipu Creations
Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Alicia Muttart is a proud Mi’kmaq artisan with roots in Wasoqopa’q First Nation. Her grandfather, who lived on Ponhook Lake 10 Reserve and lived traditionally off the land through hunting and eel fishing along the Mersey River, deeply inspires her work and the name of her business — Sipu Creations (“sipu” meaning river).
Alicia began her beading journey two years ago as a meaningful way to reconnect with her culture and honour her grandfather’s memory. Though they met only once before his passing, beading has become a powerful expression of that bond. She creates when creativity flows — always in the evening, and always from a place of positivity.
Specializing in handmade fringe earrings, Alicia works primarily with delica beads for their uniformity, along with seed beads, FireLine, and Nymo D thread. Her preferred technique is brick stitch, allowing her to craft each piece with intention, precision, and cultural pride.
