Join Mi’kmaw artist Noella Moore for a guided introduction to Mi’kmaq quillwork.

Noella will share the creative process, materials and techniques she uses while introducing participants to the artistry and cultural significance of quillwork. Through demonstrations, instruction and hands-on guidance, participants will explore the patience, precision and craftsmanship required to create quill art.

Each participant will create an eight-pointed star quillwork piece. The completed piece will be matted and ready to frame at home.

The experience is designed for beginners and is thoughtfully paced to allow time for instruction and guided project work. Participants should plan to attend the full two-hour session. All required tools and materials will be provided.

About Noella Moore

Noella Moore is a multidisciplinary Mi’kmaw artist from Lennox Island First Nation whose practice includes quill art, basket weaving and painting.

She began studying Mi’kmaq quillwork in 2015 and was immediately drawn to its intricate techniques and cultural significance. For Noella, art is both an expression of identity and a path toward healing, reconnecting her with her Mi’kmaq heritage while allowing her to share knowledge with others.

Participants should plan to attend the full two-hour experience to receive the instruction and complete their quillwork piece. Space is limited, and advance booking is required.
