Join beadwork artisan and educator Morgan Varis for a guided introduction to beadwork.

Morgan will share her creative process and introduce participants to the materials, tools and techniques used to create beadwork. Through demonstrations, instruction and hands-on guidance, participants will learn how a beaded flower design is developed and assembled.

Each participant will create a beaded flower keychain to take home while learning about the artistry, patience and skill involved in beadwork.

The experience is designed for beginners and is paced to allow time for instruction, guided project work and individual support. Participants should plan to attend the full two-hour session. All required tools and materials will be provided.

About Morgan Varis

Morgan Varis is a beadwork artisan and ribbon skirt maker who also teaches Indigenous Studies at the University of Prince Edward Island.

She earned her Master of Arts in Criminology from Simon Fraser University in 2017. Together with her husband, Koady, Morgan is the proud parent of two Mi’kmaq-Cree children.
